Karen May QSM - Owner + Designer
Karen didn’t have creative freedom at her old firm, so she started her own!
Karen founded Kaz - Design. Brand. Web in 2002, however her experience as a designer goes way back, cutting her teeth as a desktop publisher at the Rodney Times — back when it was an actual desktop, not just a computer — before overseeing the newspaper’s transition to Mac-based design. Her biggest challenge came when she decided to launch Kaz, initially running the design business from the spare bedroom of her home. Nowadays, it operates from a chic loft in the Cambridge CBD. Though originally from Northland, Karen calls Cambridge home, living here with her husband and two daughters.
Karen's passionate about local business and business people, so much so, she was awarded a Queen’s Service Medal in 2017 in recognition of her commitment to the community.
The only thing she loves more than her work is the relationships she forms along the way.

Kylie Morrison - Designer
Call it the luck of the Irish: it was while working at a health club on her OE in Ireland that Waikato-born Kylie happened upon her calling.
Inspired by a colleague there to get into design, she got her start doing occasional design jobs for a company (back in NZ) before pursuing a career in design. From there she gained invaluable experience working at the Waikato Times and a print firm before finding the perfect fit here at Kaz - Design. Brand. Web - coincidentally, the very same day we moved into our current office space (2008).
For fun, Kylie and her husband like to catch live rock shows or getaway to the family bach. But she gets a kick out of her work too; for Kylie, nothing beats turning a blank sheet of paper into a design that makes the client’s jaw drop.
