Designing the Waipā conversation
A visual journey by Kaz Design. Brand. Web. showcasing the ideas, identity and design elements that bring the Waipā conversation to life.

One story. Four perspectives.
The four covers work together as one connected family, using distinct Waipā-inspired colours, authentic photography and positive messaging to give each document its own identity while maintaining a consistent visual language.
Together, the imagery reflects the diversity of Waipā, including families, rural communities, Māori, younger generations and businesses, reinforcing that these plans are about everyone’s future.

Our visual lay-up ideas
One identity. One conversation.
The design ideas bring the visual identity together as one flexible, connected system. Bold Waipā-inspired colours, authentic imagery, flowing waves, circles and conversational elements work alongside brand fonts Filson Pro and Archer Light to create a look that feels fresh, friendly and distinctly Waipā. Across print, digital and social, the elements can flex and evolve while always feeling part of the same conversation.
Why we'd love to work with you
We love projects where good design can make a genuine difference.
We know Waipā. We understand how to turn big, complex information into something clear, engaging and easy to connect with.
We bring strategic and out-of-the-box thinking, strong design, plain language, great communication and plenty of local knowledge – across print, digital and everything in between.
Most of all, we’d love to create something with you that gets people talking, listening and taking part.
We know we can do it. And we’d love the opportunity.
We make deadlines happen.
We’ve worked with Waipā District Council for more than 15 years on many projects, and in that time, we’ve never missed a deadline.
We know Council projects move quickly, priorities shift and sometimes things land at the last minute. That’s part of the job. We plan well, communicate clearly and, when we need to, we simply make it work.
You can trust us to be there when you need us, and to get it done.
We know whose money we’re spending.
We’ve always been conscious that when we’re spending a client’s budget, it’s their money, not ours.
This project brings that even closer to home. Karen is a Waipā ratepayer, so there’s a very real understanding that we’re spending our ratepayers’ money too.
That means making smart creative decisions, finding value where it matters and creating a design system that can work hard for Council, not just for one document, but across the next three years.
And what will it cost?
We have a standard studio hourly rate, however for a project of this scale and a partnership spanning three years, we’d look to develop a project rate that reflects the volume and ongoing nature of the work, and delivers great value for Council.
There are still a few unknowns, including the number and size of documents, and the breadth of design required across print, digital, social, signage and engagement materials. Rather than give you a number that’s little more than a guess, we’d love to work through the scope with the team and provide a clear, realistic estimate.
And because we know whose money we’re spending, you can be sure we’ll always look for the smartest, most cost-effective way to make the budget work hard.
